Branding the World Gymnastics Championship 2022
Our brief originally was to project manage the manufacture, installation and de-rig of event branding across the campus for the World Gymnastics Championship. The project scope required multiple print formats and stated that the installation must be non-destructive and temporary. We created a branding specifications plan and schedule to cover the key areas of the event from the main exhibition/conference centres to additional spectator, artist and media areas.
After winning the tender to manufacture and install the branding ourselves, the team quickly put this plan into action. We prioritised the printing and manufacture of the multiple types of branding, so that we could meet the installation deadlines for each area of the event campus and arena.
Signage materials comprised of:
- Foamex board
- Correx board
- PVC reinforced banners
- Window Vinyl
- Removable Self-Adhesive Vinyl (SAV) Kit
The event and sponsor SAV Kit consisted of approximately 30m2 of white cut vinyl, supplied with application tape. The kit contained multiple-sized logos for ad hoc installation across the venue.
A number of the areas required large-format-print banners up to 45m wide, with one of the large double-sided banners, needing to be changed to side B mid-tournament.
We also worked to specifications from Liverpool ACC’s supplier of LED Screens ADI to brand around the screens within the venue.
The team at The PPL Group, are proud of what we achieved, 28 days is a relatively short time to fully execute the manufacture and installation of branding for an event of the size and scale of the World Gymnastic Championship, and we successfully met every deadline and at the end of the Championships de-rigged all the branding leaving no trace.
In the last couple of years, The PPL Group have dressed events for the R&A including The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, The Amateur Championship, The AGI Women’s Open, Walker Cup and the inaugural G4D Open in 2023. For Liverpool Football Club we’ve installed screens into the AXA Kirby Training Facility and signage/branding into the AXA Melwood Training Facility.
